Everyone’s sleeping position is different, and sleeping on your back, stomach, or side may have the power to reveal what kind of person you are.
It is known that we spend about a third of our lives sleeping, so it is not surprising that the position in which you sleep tells us something about your personality, as the sleeping position explains what makes us feel relaxed and comfortable.
How does sleeping with an open window help reduce the risk of infection with the Coronavirus?
The fact that we are quietly drawn into these situations and stay in them while we snooze makes them a reflection of ourselves.
Online mattress retailer Bed SOS teamed up with psychotherapist Nick Davies to find out what your sleeping position says about you.
Sleeping on the side with arms under the pillow:
Putting your arms under your pillow is the most common way to fall asleep. According to Mr. Davis, sleeping in this position means that you are a calm person.
“People who sleep in this way have a balanced life,” he explained. “They are also the quieter type who are usually sociable and have fun personalities.”
Fetal position:
The position of the fetus is similar to the position in which the fetus remains in the womb, sleeps on its side and raises its legs to the chest, and this is the natural way to sleep.
The ‘magic’ number of hours of sleep you need to live a longer, happier life!
Apparently, people who sleep in the fetal position are at risk.
“People who sleep this way, almost curled up in a ball, can feel lonely,” Davis explained. Those who sleep in this position have an introverted personality and can be withdrawn or shy.
Lie on your side with your arms outstretched
It’s a sign that you’re desperate to achieve something or achieve a certain goal, says Davis. He added, “You are subconsciously waiting for something. You may have unresolved goals and dreams, or you may be a symbol of longing for a life partner.”
These people can be clingy and unstable and can often get into codependent relationships.
Things not to do before bed
Hug your partner
If you share a bed with your partner, you may want to cuddle. And younger people are more likely to hug their partner when they sleep. More than one in 10 people between the ages of 18 and 24 choose this sleeping position, compared to only 4% of adults over 55 and older choose this position.
Davis notes that this sleeping position means the person enjoys providing comfort, protection, and nurturing to their partner.
Lie on your back with your arms at your sides
Sleeping on your back with your arms at your sides is not uncommon, but men choose this position more often, with 1 in 10 men sleeping in this position, compared to only 6% of women.
This may explain why men snore more.
“The characteristics of this sleeper are likely to be an open book, direct communication, and they can be rude,” Davis said.
Sleeping in the starfish position
In this position, the person lies on his back and sleeps with his hands around the pillow.
“People who tend to sleep in the starfish position often have narcissistic traits and lack empathy for the feelings of others,” Davis explained.
